Why a women's only camp at 5:30am? Funny...but the inspiration came from being surrounded by amazing women in my life starting with both of my grandmothers who have passed away, my amazing mom, and my older sister that used to kick my butt a lot when I was very young! lol... I saw the struggles they went through with trying to stay fit at all ages, and wanted to create an environment that any of them could join and feel comfortable in..unlike the typical gym atmoshere experience where they were left intimidated, confused, and at some points... even felt taken advantage of by high pressured, sales people.
David was nominated as best personal trainer in Hour Magazines "2010, and 2011 BEST OF DETROIT"
Katie Hoxie, Boot Camp CoachKatie has been an MIABC boot camp coach for 3 years. Katie Hoxie has always lead a very active lifestyle. Raised on an operating farm, she worked in the fields. She participated in many team sports including soccer, softball, volleyball, basketball, golf and track and field. An avid equestrian, Katie competed in many competitions on her horses, some on the state level. The importance of strength training as part of a healthy lifestyle became apparent when she was diagnosed with a form of arthritis at the age of 14. Traditional western medicine did not seem to relieve her symptoms. She found that proper nutrition and increased strength improved her condition. She joined her high school Powerlifting team as the only female member. She medaled at several local competitions and was a State finalist. In 2008, Katie completed a Personal Trainer course at Blue Heron Academy. She had a daughter soon after. The birth of her daughter cemented the importance of being a positive role model by living a healthy lifestyle. She is certified as a Personal Fitness Trainer through the American Council on Exercise. She has a Bachelors degree in Health Sciences with an Exercise Science concentration from Oakland University. She is CPR and First Aid certified through the American Heart Association. In her free time Katie enjoys riding her horses, playing volleyball, running, weightlifting, reading, hunting and cooking. Dawn Franklin, Boot Camp Coach
Dawn was introduced to fitness at an early age. Her father worked out daily in the basement of their Michigan family home. Eventually she was given her own weights and encouraged to workout with him. She misplaced those healthy lifestyle tips her father gave her and she began to gain weight. She looked in the mirror one day and was discouraged at what she saw. She had reached a size 13/14 and weighed 170 pounds; felt tired, run down, and unhealthy. It was time to take action! She began her journey back to eating right and exercising. Part of her journey led her to sign up for a Chicago boot camp, which she stuck with for 3 years. It took some time, but with determination she reached her fitness goals. Feeling healthy and energized, she wanted to inspire others to reach their fitness goals as well.
Dawn became a nationally certified personal trainer and has trained in Chicago and Arizona for the past decade. She helped manage two fitness studios and was in charge of running the personal training program at both studios. She also operated her own very successful boot camp in a town called Ahwatukee in Arizona for 4 years. Now she has teamed up with David to bring the Michigans Adventure Boot Camp program to the ladies of Clarkston and the surrounding area. She has put together a program to keep you motivated, challenged, help build self confidence, as well as increase your strength and endurance. You will also be a part of a supportive environment that encourages having F-U-N!
“Do you want to feel better, look better and reach your fitness goals? If you said yes, then set aside one hour a day to make that happen for yourself! You can do it if you just take that first step! Come on ladies…wake up, work out and enjoy life!” ~ Dawn Diplomas: University of Michigan- BBA/Marketing NPTI (National Personal Training Institute) Certifications: NASM ( National Academy of Sports Medicine) -- Personal Trainer -- Weight Management (in progress) NETA (National Exercise Trainers Assoc.) ---Personal Trainer, Swiss Ball, and Group Exercise NESTA (National Exercise & Sports Trainers Assoc.) --- Certified Adventure Bootcamp Trainer NESTA --- Certified Fitness Nutrition Coach CrossFit, Level 1 Certified CPR/AED and First Aid
